Congrats to Rockford Heat player Jayla Penney, she officially signed her “Letter of Intent” last night in front of friends, family, teammates, and coaches! Jayla signed for an academic and athletic scholarship to play basketball at Clarke University while pursuing a major in physical therapy! All of Rockford Heat coaches, players, parents, and fans are very proud of you. Keep chasing your dreams!

There is no doubt that I have a flurry of emotions that are running high! I think about how all this started and what it took to keep it going! I can’t thank my good friend Darrin Golden enough for everything he did to keep me going through the beginning. Our story behind the beginning is an interesting one and it continues to write itself even today. I am truly thankful for the bond that my daughter and I have because of this game called basketball. I have made a lot of friends along the way, met a lot of parents that became friends, and coached some amazing young ladies! Every team I am blessed to coach a team I am amazed by players that aspire to play at a higher level. The path has been paved has for future Heat players to follow. Ladies keep chasing your dreams!

"Basketball takes a huge commitment, no body rolls out of bed one day with a great crossover or a beautiful jumpshot! It takes hours and hours worth of practice on your own, outside of team practice."
